Hey all! It’s Allison again from aStellina, checking in this week with chapter two of my 25 chapter series, “Unique Wedding Reception Ideas!!!” Last week I detailed a truly unique wedding reception idea, a custom beer bar. This week I want to share with you a special way you can spruce up your first dance, impress your guests, and get your wedding reception party started! in a unique and special way!
The first dance comes from an old ball tradition where the guest of honor would dance first to open up dancing for all attendees. When it began as a staple in American and European weddings, the dance was actually a waltz! Today, first dances usually follow a ballroom style with many couples seeking help from professional dance companies to get it just right. Your first dance is a intimate moment with your groom. It gives you the opportunity to get lost in each other and really show your guests how much you both care and love one another. The first dance is a truly spectacular moment of your wedding reception.
A wonderful way to mark this majestic moment in time is with a confetti drop! It doesn’t have to just be confetti though, if you love glitter, you can go that route, even feathers or balloons work! Anything that can flutter, fly or bounce off the ceiling (safely) works for this special drop. A confetti drop is something you must pre-plan with your wedding coordinator and entertainment so it is done just right. I recommend doing a confetti drop towards the end of your first dance. Decide on a spot in your first dance song where you would like to have the confetti drop. Have your wedding coordinator or DJ release the fun confetti flutters down at the appropriate time. It will make for a dramatic and fun finish to your first dance! Not only that, but it’s the perfect way to initiate the party and a great way to end a special moment.
